William A Callahan is professor of international politics at the University of Manchester, and currently a visiting professor at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. His books include China: The Pessoptimist Nation (Oxford University Press, 2010) and Contingent States: Greater China and Transnational Relations (University of Minnesota Press, 2004). He is co-editor of China Orders the World: Normative Soft Power and Foreign Policy (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2012) and author of China Dreams: 20 Visions of the Future (Oxford University Press, forthcoming, March 2013)
