Khalil Al Anani conducts research and lectures in the Politics Department of the University of Durham in the UK, from where he obtained a PhD after his Master’s from Cairo University. His main research interests are in the Islamist movements of the Middle East, the Sociology of Religion, the Politics of Identity, democratization in the Arab countries, Egyptian politics and social protest movements.
