Carlos Lopes

Former UN under-secretary-general and former executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, is COP30 Special Envoy for Africa, Chair of the African Climate Foundation Board, and a professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town. He is the author of The Self-Deception Trap : Exploring the Economic Dimensions of Charity Dependency within Africa-Europe Relations.
